Feline deterrents?

Does anyone in TBC know of a (preferably non-harmful) method for deterring cats which actually works?  I have nothing against cats when I meet them in people's homes, but there are now at least three moggys visiting my garden to hunt birds and this is particularly worrying in breeding season.
