Fantastic pics!

I am coming across from Cumbria to see try and see the bird on Friday (annoyingly missing the RSPB event!). I am familiar with Cowpen Bewely, but could anybody please offer advise on where best to see the bird in the park?

Much appreciated!

Whilst volunteering in Churchill, Canada in Spring '10, I spotted this white winged gull. Someone told me it was probably Glaucous, but I was never certain due to soft face and smaller size (compared to some of the monsters we get!)

Another friend thought possible Iceland gull. What with all these pale gulls being reclassified, does anyone have any thoughts?

Much appreciated!

Fantastic, exactly the kind of info I was after, thanks! I'll be going down early early Monday morning on foot, I'll let you know how I get on.

Hi there! Hoping to secure my first Caspian Gull sightings over the next couple of days. I know it's impossible to predict exact locations etc, but could anyone give me some advice on where to look for them on Seaton Common?

For example, if any of the gulls have lingered in specific spots over the days, or if it is usually a case of checking everywhere for them? Wouldn't normally ask but I visit Teesside sporadically and thought I'd seek advise before hunting for such a tricky gull!

Thanks,

Thomas

Identification Tips and Questions / Brent Geese
January 11, 2012, 04:46:59 PM
Apologies of this is in the wrong section, I'm still relatively new to the forum!

Is there anywhere in Teesside where small numbers of Brent Geese winter regularly? I was just wondering as I notice sightings from time to time in the Seal Sands area.

In Cumbria, we have 50 or so birds that regularly winter in the far South of the county, so I was curious as to whether small flocks also stay put in Teesside.

Thanks!

General Discussion / Little Auk enquiry
November 22, 2011, 03:31:44 PM
I was wondering if anybody could offer advise on when best to spot Little Auks off the coast?

This has been my first Autumn migration in the North East, and I've had some truly memorable experiences seawatching at Hartelpool, Seaton Carew and Redcar. Having lived in Cumbria, I'm enjoying the variety and sheer abundance of sea ducks and divers in the North Sea, not to mention the passage migrants.

Are Little Auks fairly reliable in their movements along Teesside?

Cheers!

Thomas
