A colour ringed Icelandic Black-tailed Godwit has been present on Tidal Pool the last two days. Part of a flock of around 42 birds present over high tide.

Left tibia - lime above yellow
Right tibia - yellow above dark green flag

I sent off the report last night and received a response first thing this morning!

It was ringed on the Tagus Estuary, Portugal as an adult female in February 2008.

Colour ringed Curlew on Seaton Common this evening.

A regular each winter - Left tibia - OY tarus - W  Right tibia - NY

Ringed on Seal Sands on 7th September 1991.

A ringed rather than colour ringed bird.

On 5th September 2013 Tim Robinson found the headless corpse of a Danish ringed Cormorant on the beach at Seaton Snook.

It was ringed as a pullus on 1st June 2013 at Maturtholm, Denmark.

It was found dead three months later though it could have died much earlier and just been washed up now.

The black-yellow, orange-yellow ringed curlew (mentioned above by Ian) was on Seaton Common again today.  Apologies for the sub-standard photo.

Found by Dave Harrison today perched on a lampost on Easington Road, Hartlepool.

Interestingly Dave found the same bird on 7th December 2012 at Jacksons Landing, Hartlepool.

It was ringed in Poland on 20/05/2011.

Polish ringing group has been informed and the BTO.

Yep! Looks like the same one. I first saw it back on 01/09/2013 and regularly on and off since then.

On 13th November 2013 a colour ringed Herring Gull was on Seaton Common - ornage darvic black letters - 1516

Dave Harrison saw the same bird 30/08/2013 at Seaton Reach.

It as ringed on Seal Sands in July 2012. All 2012 birds have 'GN' on the right leg.

A Black-tailed Godwit seen at RSPB Saltholme on 30/08/2013 was ringed as a chick on 17.07.13 at Rauda, just east of Godafoss, N Iceland 65 41.588'N 17 30.486'W.

Just received a reply today. I've not received a replay yet about another seen the same day but I think it's likely to have come from the same area.

Results received today for another colour ringed Black-tailed Godwit seen at RSPB Saltholme on 16th July 2013 -

LR LL - the R being red on the left tarsus and the marker for the Solent ringing scheme.

It was ringed on 9th Spetember 2009 at Farlington Marshes nr. Portsmouth.

At least two colour ringed Purple Sandpipers on the beach this morning at Hartlepool Headland. In total 72 Purple Sandpipers counted plus another four at Newburn Bridge.

Both colour ringed birds are regular winter visitors - EUH and EJT
