I did hear that along with Dorman's Pool that there is another satellite site which is an RSPB reserve as well and that is Port Clarence Pool, not far from Saltholme as well. But I do know that after enquiries on the RSPB Community Forums that there is no visiting allowed by RSPB Members and the public to Port Clarence Pool. I've tried googling to find out any information about Port Clarence Pool, but to no avail. Has anyone any information about Port Clarence Pool and its wildlife and why there is no visiting allowed.

I'd guess you're referring to what is generally referred to as Port Clarence Flood. It's located between the end of Back Saltholme Pool and Port Clarence. It tends to dry out in the summer months. In fact it started off as little more than a flooded field following heavy rain but has become more permanent over the years, probably due to subsidence or maybe raised water table.

It's good for passage migrant waders especially Black-tailed Godwit at the right time of year. Last year the Spoonbill flock spent quite a long time feeding there. Smaller waders are difficult to view even with a scope due to the distance and often heavy heat haze.

Viewing is difficult and distant from the roadside at the rear of Calor Gas. It's a very busy road and parking is very limited. There has been some talk over the years of the RSPB creating a footpath following the beck from by the old Clarences Community Farm  - where you can still park and also view the PC Flood from a similar distance, but it hasn't happened yet.
