Orange B Black L was on Back Saltholme and the west pond causeway yesterday morning.

A juvenile from this year. Ringed locally 24/05/2021. It's the first sighting away from the nest site. Ten have been ringed so far this year.

Little Egret x12 on Dormans Pool this afternoon. Another one of the ten ringed locally this year.

Orange B black N present along with several other juvenile Little Egrets.

White K Yellow 4 also present.

Present on Tidal Pool along with another 14 Little Egret.

Ringed locally 24/05/2021.

On the beach resting along the waters edge. Green 12V was present again as well.

Coordinator was working in the field so reply with ringing details a little bit longer than usual.

23 Avocet in front of Saltholme Hide yesterday morning. Including one colour ringed bird.

I thought it was a local bird when I saw it as the coded yellow flag and yellow ring are used locally as well. However it turned out to be from further afield.

Apparently it's been travelling around the country with it's sibling 6V that one maybe around as well.

Ringing details -

QuoteOrange RV was ringed and tagged near Thorpe Haddiscoe on 19.06.2021, and

RSPB Saltholme is a bit of a hot spot for our Marsh Harriers;
this sighting is the 5th from our project.

Around 50 Twite feeding along the high tide line beside the bridge screen just after the morning high tide. Several were colour ringed, but most had no rings. They were difficult to view as they were mostly out of view behind the grassy edge of the bank.

Two combinations photographed.

Both ringed locally.

Y/B, WB/M which is AZH7926 and was ringed on 03/12/2019, was re-trapped in December 2020 and last seen in March 2021.

WB/M, Y/Y which is AHN5464 and was ringed on 27/11/2020. Seen at Zinc Works Road 13/04/2021.

On Upper Tidal Pool this morning.

Ringed 10/08/2017 as pullus in western France.

First sighting outside of France. It was seen mating with an un-ringed bird.

Yellow flag 1A and 1B also present. Both ringed locally in 2019.

**** Edited to add photos from the ringer a few days after ringing.

A colour ringed Great Egret was seen/photographed on the east pond on 30/04/2022. It had a red darvic with white lettering on the left tibia. Seen at great distance and in strong heat haze however several photos showed the ring to be AAT.

It was still present today.

QuoteAAT was ringed in the nest at RSPB Ham Wall, Somerset on 23.04.2021 and was reported from RSPB Conwy later that year.

AAT is a female. Its male sibling AAU is well travelled and recently sighted at Scaling Dam Reservoir.

Three Great Egrets at Phil Stead Hide this morning. Asleep when I arrived. They woke up to preen before AAU chased off AAT. AAT went onto the east pond whilst AAU flew towards the Wildlife Watchpoint. The un-ringed bird flew onto Holme Fleet.

AAU and AAT are siblings ringed as pulli at RSPB Ham Wall 23/04/2021.

Great egret AAU was present at Saltholme again on Sunday 5th June (photographed at "Haverton gate").

Spoonbill x4 present since 30th June 2022 on Back Saltholme. One present for several weeks prior to that date.

On 1st July Martin Blick managed to read and photograph the ringed bird.
