Twitter feeds

As of the last couple of days, the Twitter feeds are no longer visible on the relevant TBC page, or by any other means to TBC members who don't have Twitter accounts (screenshot attached).  Does the club have a back-up plan for communicating sightings and other information?

More than a month has passed since I made the original post in this thread, with no response from the committee or other affiliated people.  Twitter remains inaccessible for many members (I've been asked by several of those affected if anyone had responded to my post), but there doesn't seem to be a back-up plan.

Bluntly, if I'm not receiving any information about sightings, events (most recent thing listed on the TBC website's Events page was March 2023) or other matters, I don't have much incentive to renew my membership.

Not that I ever look on this website to check the Twitter Sightings, but just did now and it worked fine! Could see both @teesbirds1 and @teesmouthbc twitter feeds...

That's probably because you have a Twitter account, and it "recognises" you.  For me, it doesn't show the feeds, and if I click on a link to one of the Twitter accounts it takes me to a Twitter login/sign-up page, and refuses to show any content until I sign in or sign up.  After I made the initial post, several others asked if I had received a response because they were experiencing the same issue, so it's clear that I'm not the only person affected.  I do know of one person who was still able to view the feeds despite not having a Twitter account (not sure why that is).

The key point is that the Twitter feeds are no longer reliably accessible by every TBC member who has a PC, laptop, tablet or phone, but the club seems to be using them as the default way to communicate with members, whether that be about sightings, events or other matters of interest.  If the club wants to stay in contact with those members, it needs to come up with an alternative method, or actually use the alternatives that already exist, such as the forum  "channels" and the website's events page (arguably, sightings may be considered less important than announcements and events, as people can always sign up to Birdguides for those).

I can see both Twitter feeds if I view TBC website using Microsoft Edge browser even when not logged in.

Nothing shows using Opera, Avast or Brave.

It's never been an issue for me as I use the Twitter app on my phone/tablet. Twitter is free to sign up and you can use a browser if you don't want to download the app.

I agree though the club should have it's own sightings page again as I suspect the issues with Twitter will only get worse. Even if it means to the previous sightings page prior to Twitter.

Just tried on Edge, but don't see any more than on my usual browser.   Thanks for the idea, though; it was worth a try.

Given recent events with Twitter, this doesn't feel like a good time to sign up for an account.

Belatedly, thanks to those invoved for setting up the new sightings system.
