Hi Guys,

Don't know if this is the correct place but thought I'd share the results of my new scopes capabilities.

Scope .....
Optolyth TBS 80mm
x20, x30 & x40 eye pieces.

Bought the scope 2nd hand, which arrived on Tuesday am. £475 a pure bargin.
Not a generally known spotting scope, but Optolyth are held in very high regards as " high end optics" in astronomy circle for their binoculars. So I knew their scopes would match.
The scope is rubber armed, totally water proof and comes in a water proof jacket, plastic end cap. Eye pieces came in a screw barrel (plastic). Original Okulars. Dew shield slides to block stray light hitting lens.
Their Objectives are cut from High Grade Glass with Lazers, and the bodies are Flouride gas filled. The prisms are HGG also eliminating CA.

Myself and Wayne set up the scope opposite the feeders just before the entrance to Saltholmes. Placed (screwed) the x30 e/p into the scope and scanned the far bank where the Barn Owl box is. Razor sharp images with no hint of Vignetting or CA. The birds around the "water hole" where again razor sharp. Gulls plumage very detailed as where the Pochards there.
Inside the building we set up near the feeders by the window. Around 10 feet from the feeders they focused prfectly. The focuser is very accurate, and does need to be fiddled to focus objects near to far distance. But thats no problem.

These scopes are available from USA eBay for over £1,500. Or contact www.optolyth.de This site is in German but you can flick there brocheur into English.
I did email Dennis to enquire about a zoom e/p. Erm Euros 400. Give that a pass

Hope you don't mind this report.
