The club is sad to announce the sudden death of Anne Stead, Phil's widow. This sad even is particularly poignant as she was to be formally opening the hide dedicated to Phil on the 23rd of April - a small family event with a few of the key players, who enabled the hide to be built. Obviously, this ceremony has been postponed in the interim.

Anne Stead, widow of founder-member of the Teesmouth Bird Club and pioneer Teesside birder, Phil Stead, tragically and unexpectedly passed away this week. Our sympathies go out to all Anne's family and friends. This news was rendered even more tragic because Anne was due to visit RSPB Saltholme on Saturday to formally open the Phil Stead Hide at Bottom Tank, dedicated to her late husband. Katherine, Anne's daughter, has confirmed that Anne's funeral is to be held at Marlborough Road Methodist Church, St Albans at 4.00 pm on Friday 24th April for those who wish to attend. Katherine has requested no flowers, please. Ted Parker
