Hi

The BTO have kindly allowed the Mammal Group access to the mammal records that are submitted as part of the bird recording scheme.
I have just been given the harvest mouse records to look at.  many of are of them seem a bit dodgy, eg a 1km square in the middle of Darlington, which almost certainly hasn't had harvest mouse since the Reformation. However there is one at Kirklevington NZ4209 from 2007 that looks a distinct possibility.  I think its a good chance that it would be a TBC member who did that survey so if it was, please could that person get in touch with me to confirm the record.  My contact is bondian@hotmail.co.uk rather than the one that I used to register on this site.

Thanks
Ian

Not sure if you want older info but, I have a few photo's of what I've been told is a harvest mouse, taken summer 2009 on the Castle Eden walkway.
Why worry it may never happen?
If it has already happened why worry?
Because it's too late to do anything about it,
So Why Worry?

Hi

2009 is quite recent as HM records go there have only been four that I know of since then.  I would love to see the picture of the harvest mouse.  There was a re- introduction project there about a decade ago so it would be good to know that they are still there.  Could you e-mail it to me at bondian@hotmail.co.uk

Many thanks
Ian

Just to say a particular thanks to David as this was a harvest mouse and it was on the Hart to Haswell Walkway but just north of the Hartlepool border in to Easington.  This makes it the most northerly, naturally occurring harvest mouse record of the twenty first century and is very timely as the book is due to go to print later this year.
If there are any other unusual mammal or reptile sightings out there, there is just time to squeeze them in.

Cheers
Ian
