For me the male pheasant is our most colourfull bird, closly followed by the kingfisher, and then the gold finch. what do you lot think ?

For me its got to be the male bullfinch followed closely by the male stonechat, but they are lots of contenders out there.

Without doubt the prettiest bird for Britain has got to be European Bee-eater, having spent the summer of 2002 as one of the wardening team at Bishop Middleham where they successfully bred i had a lot of time with them. As well as being gorgeous they were real characters, it was one of the best bird experiences of my life and a huge learning curve as there was so little known about their breeding behaviour.

Yeap I was going to say that too but kept my choice to UK resident birds as apose to passage or breeding migrants.   ;)  ;)
