Lesser Spotted Woodpecker

In previous years I have led outings to the Leven Valley to look for this and the other 2 species of woodpecker. I shall not be doing this this year as I really ought to search for the bird ere any outing, and I will simply not have the time in the next few weeks to research the business properly. This does not mean that the old lags from previous outings cannot undertake the task or failing that you can simply get out to find your own bird and ideally look outwith the area for new locations for this enigmatic species.
I do have a concern that the excellent sightings reports on this web site does not encourage birders to look else where but merely roll up to the advertise site and not find new species or locations for themselves.
