The colour ringed Sanderling, left leg=metal ring on tibia,yellow over green on tarsus and right leg=green flag on tibia and yellow over white on tarsus, which has previously been seen at Marske and Coatham, was on the beach at Saltburn this morning.

It was rung at Sandgeroi, Iceland on 22-5-2011

There was also a colour ringed Oystercatcher at Saltburn that will have been ringed in Aberdeen but I haven't got the full inscription of the colour ring yet to be able to get any specific ringing data back.

The colour-ringed Curlew at Hartlepool Headland referred to in Ian's post of October 10th was 'NY/GN', metal ring no. FH48628 ringed by the Tees Ringing Group on 21 July at Seal Sands. 

Colour ringed BH Gull '3.7' was behind the King Cod chippy again today. Same spot it was in last winter.

A metal ringed BH Gull was at Warrior Park this morning - 6415117 RIKSMUSEUM STOCKHOLM

The same bird was seen in Seaton Carew November 2011 and on 17th December 2012 at Warrior Park by Dave Harrison.


Edit - I managed to locate the ringing report from last year. It was ringed in Malmo Sweden on 27/03/2005.

A colour ringed Herring Gull was seen by Dave Harrison at Seaton Reach on 6th December 2012 - orange darvic 2227.

Same bird was present in the same place on 11th February 2012.

A second sighting of this bird.

Colour ringed Cormorant at Ward Jackson Park on 31st December 2012 and still present on 1st January 2013. Orange Darvic with black letters S|H. Seen by Dave Harrison.


S|H (metal ring 5238308) was ringed as a chick at Abberton reservoir on the 30th May 2005.

Black-headed Gull ring 6J-2098 found by Dave at Warrior Park, Seaton Carew on 06/11/2012.

Ringed Sprogø, Korsør, Denmark on 08/06/2011.

On 16th December 2012 a colour ringed Herring Gull with an orange darvic on it's left leg with 1388 was seen on Seaton Common, Seaton Carew, Hartlepool by Dave Harrison.

It was ringed Isle of May, Fife, Scotland 6th July 2001.

A colour ringed Herring Gull was seen on Seaton Meadows landfill this morning by Dave Harrison.

Right leg - white over dark green over lime.

Left leg - metal ring above knee.


Same bird was present at Seaton Reach on 11/02/2012.

The combination fits with gulls ringed over 20 yrs ago at Seaton Carew however an additional colour ring on the left leg must have fallen off over the years so the bird can't be fully identified from the colour rings. The metal ring should have four large numbers repeated twice which can be read from a distance. If anyone see's the bird could they try to read the numbers. They couldn't be read when it was seen today and last Feb.

A colour ringed Great Black-backed Gull bearing a yellow darvic with H58 was found by Dave Harrison on 26/12/12 at Cowpen Bewley by the tip.

It was ringed as a nestling 28/06/10 at Badbea, Berriedale, Highland, Scotland.

This is the first recorded sighting of this bird and the first one recorded from this scheme.
