Hi Ian

This was the CR Sanderling at South Gare at 14.50 on 04/06/2016 that I mentioned on Twitter.
L tibia - white flag/yellow/blue
R tibia - red/red

Cheers

Hi James,

The ringer is away until beginning of July so I registered with Animal Track - eventually!

It's a good find.

It was ringed on passage on the North Atlantic coast of Mauritania, North Africa on 06/12/2015

There have been no other sightings.

A colour ringed bird landed on the rail in front of Paddy's Pool this morning.

Black - 3.32

It was ringed as a pulli at RSPB Saltholme on 04/07/14

The first re-sighting since it was ringed.

Three colour ringed birds seen over the last three days.

A speedy response from the ringer of this bird seen yesterday.

Quite an old bird. BTO lists average age as being 18yrs and the oldest from ringing records as being 23yrs.

I've seen around a dozen different birds returned so far this winter. OY NY remains the oldest.  There are a couple more older birds ringed in the early 90's and 2000's.
I keep the coordinator updated.

On 16/12/2016 I saw/photo'd -

Sometimes there's only the odd one or two in view from the road, other times up to a dozen. They feed around the golf course as well.

I've seen two different birds on Cowpen Marsh. Usually a few turn up on Seal Sands and at RSPB Saltholme but I've not seen any colour ringed birds amongst the hundreds of Curlew there.

There were several along Zinc Works Road this morning. I saw three cr birds but could only get details of one due to the long grass.

I saw the one with the slipped ring again today as well. Much better view than last time. It looks like the white is loose and has dropped down over the red ring which makes it WR OY. I saw it on seaton Common on 23/12/2016 but prior to that not since 2013.

It was ringed on Seal Sands in July 1997.

RN GW was ringed Seal Sands in August 2000 and has been present throughout most winters.
