Adult Herring Gull at work today, Lackenby Steelworks.

Dark Red Colour Ring with Black Lettering on left leg - W9DFT - not quite 100% certain as trying to read with the naked eye. Any ideas?

I can't see a scheme on cr birding with that combination - http://cr-birding.org/colourprojects?tid_3=Herring+Gull&tid_2=&tid=All&tid_1=All&tid_4=2739&tid_5=All

If I can't locate the scheme then I send the sighting to the BTO - http://blx1.bto.org/euring/lang/pages/colourform.jsp?coord=pete.rock@blueyonder.co.uk - and mention in the remarks column that the scheme couldn't be found on cr birding. Worth mentioning the ink colouring of the letters as well as the ring colour itself.

Colour ringed Gull (distant photo) at Redcar beach 1.00 pm today (16/5/17). Can anyone make anything of it?

Chris.Small

Can't read the exact numbers on that but it's Y:### any 3 numbers and was most likely rung at Rufforth Tip, York. Quite a few of them end up on the rocks at Redcar.

http://www.cr-birding.org/node/3611

robyoung

Ok Thanks for that.  I had hoped it would be more exotic than one caught in a rubbish tip.

robyoung

Another go at the ringed gull on Redcar/Marske beach. It looks like Y:964.

Chris.Small

Yes looks like Y:964. I had this gull on May 12th and received this info back the other day
