Zinc works road this evening: two short-eared owls and a kestrel. Seaton Snook, at high tide: single arctic skua (dark morph). A good selection of waders, including the first significant influx of golden plovers I've seen around the tees this autumn (more than 200 were present), plus grey plover, knot, bar-tailed godwit, sanderling, dunlin, ringed plover and oystercatcher. Still healthy numbers of sandwich terns, a few common terns and a possible juvenile black tern, but it was too distant for someone of my limited skills to confirm.

Saltholme highlights this afternoon included a healthy selection of waders at Bottom Tank (including ruff, black-tailed godwit, ringed plover and others); at least two water rails and a bittern from the Wildlife watchpoint; a little stint, avocets, dunlin, ringed plover, more black-tailed godwits, kestrel and the long-staying white fronted goose on Saltholme West. Several skeins of pink-footed geese passed overhead.
